Ubuntu: “I am because we are”

"I am because we are."

That is the heart of #Ubuntu. Behind the word is the Zulu/Nguni phrase "Umuntu ngumuntu ngabantu": a person becomes a person through other people.

Nelson Mandela carried that idea with rare depth. Not as a nice cultural quote, but as a discipline of leadership: dignity before ego, reconciliation before revenge, service before status.

On #AfricaDay, this feels especially relevant. Africa does not need more slogans about potential. It needs people, platforms and communities able to turn shared purpose into real work.
